Maintenance on VSL link

Hi all,

Just looking for some quick confirmation from the experts here:

I currently have a VSS setup with 2 4510's and SUP7-E modules running production.

The VSL link is connected via 2 TenGig interfaces on the Supervisor board.

We will have to perform maintenance on the all VSL link ports to replace SFP's.

I would like to perform the maintenance without disrupting the VSL/VSS setup.

Can I just shut the port I will be performing maintenance on, replace the SFP and no shut it to bring it up again without disruption on the VSS/VSL and then repeat the process until all 4 SFPs are replaced?

I do not care about a couple of dropped packets, we will perform the maintenance during a window. I do however want to keep the VSS running as is.

As long as one VSL link is up, it should not disrupt the set up.

How ever do it in a maintenance window.

Thanks,

Madhu.

Thank you for your quick reply Madhu, greatly appreciated!

I would have thought so that no impact would be seen, but because it is the first time we will perform maintenance on our VSL, I want to better be safe than sorry.

Thanks again,

Colin
