Migration path for 6500 VSS to 6880-X VSS

Hello everyone,

I have a pair of 6500-13 VSS switches in production for campus core/distribution and I'm replacing them with a pair of 6880-X.  The SVIs are the default gateways for the entire LAN.  the configuration and the setup will be identical.  

What is the best way to do this without IP address changes?

Hi,

you can build the VSS on the 6880 in an isolated environment (without connecting it to the existing network) so there is no conflict, test it. Load the config from the old 6500 to the new 6800 and than in on outage window disconnect the cables from the old 6500 and connect them to new 6880.
