Recently we ran into problems with increased number of STP Active logical Ports and Virtual Ports line card in a catalyst platform
( 6800 ) . Platform limit was 12k and we reached 16k.
This is how we found out via command :
s01#SH VLan VIrtual-port
Total chassis virtual ports 16150
s01#
Now we have fixed this problem by pruning VLAN's and have planned MST in the long run.
The question is , is there a way to monitor this . We have several monitoring tools based on SNMP , but i cannot find any specific OID/MIB that we can use to monitor/ Throw alarms for this value .
Is there any SNMP-Way to monitor this value ? Ofcourcse an alternative is to create ansible scripts to run command again and again and then programme something about alarms etc. But it will be easy to use the already established tools and alarming mechanisms.
