No, we were suggested to move from VLANs to MPLS in our core network

I just wanted to know the benefits of that

If you mean extend VLANs over an MPLS link...

I guess one benefit would be centralized network core management.

However MPLS can't replace VLANs ...at least that's how I know it. But please correct me if i'm wrong.

Maybe this will answer your question.

I guess you could use MPLS over VLAN.

I guess, "less overhead" would be one key benefit.

I wonder if its MPLS and VRF's they are looking to go to especially if your company has PCI compliance regulations.
