I want to set up Multicast with multiple Auto RP. I Basically have two RP that need to be able to multicast information to all of my routers. Can i do this and use ip pim sparse-mode or does it have to be sparse-dence mode? I dont want to set up access groups becuase all routers and vlan's need access to both RP's.
The AutoRP itself depends on the dense mode, so in common deployments with AutoRP, the sparse-dense is a must. However, you may work this around by using only sparse-mode and configuring ip pim autorp listener global configuration command on all your multicast routers. This command allows to propagate the AutoRP multicast traffic (188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206) over sparse-mode interfaces as if they were configured for sparse-dense mode.
