Native VLAN in ccna

HELP I'm a ccna student!!

1.

What is exactly a native VLAN & what scenarios does it get applied in; in context of IEEE 802.1Q. Whats its function?

2.what does the output "SHOW INT TRUNK" show; when VLAN Trunking Protocol pruned?

3.as a ccna i'm expctd to know beyond "mls qos trust cos" (trust/untrust)in voice vlans? How much should I know here? what should I know?

Also a CCNA student, but I'll try and answer your questions :)

1) The native VLAN is a VLAN configured on your switch that is trunked without 802.1Q tagging - it's just raw data. This is typically used for interoperability between smart switches (i.e. those that support 802.1Q tagging) and unmanaged (dumb) switches, or switches that don't support 802.1Q tagging.

2) This command shows which VLANs are permitted, which are actively being trunked, and which are being pruned (not being permitted).

VLAN pruning is used to control which VLANs are being trunked, in an effort to control bandwidth usage between switches.

3) Not sure about this part, haven't got to that stage myself (yet)
