Hi all,

I have a 6506 with “ WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE”. The switch does not boot after restart, it goes to “rommon” mode, I have to manual enter command “Boot” then it boots and everything works like normal. The boot command is on configuration file (attached file)

Please, help.

Thanks

Hi,

Check 2 things:

1. The boot variable "disk0:s222-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF11.bin" is pointing to correct location and file really is there.

2. Config-register should be 0x2102 both on router and switch processor. Execute "remote command switch show boot" for the SP output (RP is fine per the outputs you attached). To fix the config-register problem, you should configure it to default value and save configure to sync its value between SP and RP:

     conf t

          config-reg 0x2102

          end

Hi,

Can you delete the existing boot variable save the config and reapply the boot variable again, save and reboot?

boot system slot0:

Please make sure to reboot during an outage window, as rebooting will cause disruption to your network.

Fully agree with Ivan.

You can also execute "confreg" at the rommon to set it interactively ( if rommon supports it)

rommon> priv

rommon> confreg

rommon>sync

rommon>reset

Thanks and Regards,

Prajul.
