Need help to make a choice on a router and other network equipment.

Hi.

1. Questions:

What is the diferrence between the following routers and will the later "Cisco 887 Annex M..." work with ADSL2+ line?

  • I dont need inbuild wireless becuase I will purchase separe AP
  • Also I dont need voice services as I run Asterisk

Router Models

  • $896.89 - Cisco 887VA 802.11n VDSL2/ ADSL2+ [C887VA-W-A-K9]
  • $470.17 - Cisco 887 Annex M over POTS Multi-mode Router Advanced Security Feature set [CISCO887VA-M-K9]

2. Question

Technically speaking what is better solution to buy? I am not sure, but the 800 series seems quite old today. How does it compare to 500 series?

Is better to buy WAP4410N or 541N access point?

Requirements:

  • I have got block of IPs so I need to assign IPs to particular port numbers
  • I dont need voice services on the router as I run Asterisk
  • I would prefer to have VPN on the router
  • VLANs
  • I might have to add 1 more AP in the feature so wireless bridging would be good.
  • Swill will provide PoE for APs.
  • I would probably prefer IOS for configuration.

Solution 1

  • $470.17 - Cisco 887 Annex M over POTS Multi-mode Router Advanced Security Feature set [CISCO887VA-M-K9]
  • $421.90 - Cisco SG 300-10P 10-port Gigabit PoE Managed Switch [SRW2008P-K9-AU]
  • $394.80 – Cisco 541N 802.11n Dual Band Wireless Access Point for Small Business [AP541N-N-K9]
    • Is this AP 3x3???

Solution 2

  • $474.73 – Cisco SRP547W ADSL2+ Wireless-N GigE Modem-Router [SRP547W-E-K9]
  • $421.90 - Cisco SG 300-10P 10-port Gigabit PoE Managed Switch [SRW2008P-K9-AU]
  • $188.83 – Cisco WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point [WAP4410N-AU]
    • Adjustable and removable dipole antennas with multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) 3x3 diversity

Question 3

Does

Cisco SRP547W have IOS?

Thank you

Jiri
