network traffic & vlans on multiple switches

Hi,

We have:

Switch 1 (3rd Floor)

Port 1 - 15 = Student Vlan 100

Port 16 - 20 = Staff Vlan 200

Switch 2 (2nd Floor)

Port 1 - 15 = Student Vlan 100

Port 16 - 20 = Staff Vlan 200

Switch 3 (2nd Floor)

Port 1 - 5 = Student Vlan 100

Port 6 - 20 = Staff Vlan 200

Above switches connects to central core switch.

Port 1 - 15 in Switch 1 connects to 15 student PCs in a computer suite. We are looking to install a language lab software in this suite. Teacher will be using the PC1 (Student PC) and Students will be using rest 14 PCs. There will be lots of remote recording and transfering the audio/video files between these 15 PCs. Now my concern is; will this transfer of media files between these 15 PCs can affect the other parts of the network specially the PCs on Student Vlan on other switches/floors ? If it does, what would be the solution ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi Bicky,

no worry as soon as all devices are connected in one switch in same VLAN.. all traffic stay in this switch and other switches or uplinks are not affected

msir

thank you msir

Can I confirm that traffic from "Switch 1 Port 1 - 15 = Student Vlan 100" wont be affect following PCs ?

Switch 2 Port 1 - 15 = Student Vlan 100 (wont affect these PCs)

Switch 2 Port 1 - 5 = Student Vlan 100
