Nexus 3000 standalone deployment general question

Max Kalachov

Hi guys,

I have not been for a while in touch with the Cisco Nexus world. I'm wondering if N3K in general and Nexus 3048, in particular, could be deployed as standalone switches. I mean not extenders, fex, etc... Just as regular switches without any dependency on a higher level. As far as I understand they could be deployed as a standalone solution, but I prefer clarifying with you.

Also does System Default license (not Base license)  support Jumbo frames?

Thank you

Regards,

Max

Hi Max,

Yes, the 3000 series can be deployed as an standalone switch. And yes, the default license support jumbo frame.

Also, if you have not purchased the switch yet, you may want to look at the 9k series.

Hi Reza,

Thank you for the answers.

It's a small office + iSCSI environment, so I believe N3K would be enough. N9K probably would be overkill and the prices seem to be much higher. However, I will consider N9K for other projects.

Thank you

Max
