Nexus 5000: %SYSLOG-3-SYSTEM_MSG: syslog could not be send

Hi,

I have a N5K giving the folowing syslog error messages:

%SYSLOG-3-SYSTEM_MSG: Syslog could not be send to server (logserver ip address). No such file or director

Syslog is enabled/configured by simply using the "logg server x.x.x.x" command, but no log file is specified as I assume that the default log file "Messages" will be used.

In the linux syslog server, the default file permission is set to "0640"

Please can someone advise.

Many thanks

Sankung

Hi Sankung

Please check whether you have a route to the log server in vrf where you configured log-server if management - then apply "use-vrf management" )

Which softare version do you use?

This issue also may be caused by following bug: CSCtn24930

HTH,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Actually I am using an SVI to reach the syslog don't have any connectivity issue between the two. I can ping the syslog server from the Nexus and vice versa..

The N5K has version 5.0(3)

Thanks

Hi Alex,

My N5K is running on 5.0(3)N1(c) as well. So I suppose that bug should be fixed in mine also.

Many thanks

sankung

Hi,

My N5K is running 5.0.(3)N2(1), but the problem is the same. Is this bug really fixed in 5.0(3)N1(1
