Nexus 5K 10 gig server connection

We have a Nexus 5K that we would like to connect a 10gig Server/Monitor device to.

the 5K setup is as follows:

Software
  BIOS:      version 1.3.0
  loader:    version N/A
  kickstart: version 4.2(1)N2(1)
  system:    version 4.2(1)N2(1)
  power-seq: version v1.2
  BIOS compile time:       09/08/09
  kickstart image file is: bootflash:/n5000-uk9-kickstart.4.2.1.N2.1.bin
  kickstart compile time:  7/28/2010 18:00:00 [07/28/2010 20:11:19]
  system image file is:    bootflash:/n5000-uk9.4.2.1.N2.1.bin
  system compile time:     7/28/2010 18:00:00 [07/29/2010 00:19:12]

Hardware
  cisco Nexus5010 Chassis ("20x10GE/Supervisor")
  Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU    with 2074284 kB of memory.
  Processor Board ID JAF1438BTMR

  Device name: Nexus5kA
  bootflash:    1003520 kB

First of all, can we connect a server/montoring device to the 5K on a 10 gig uplink port, and can we use a SFP+ cable (active or passive), and what is the maxium distance?

thanks,

Billy
