Hello,
I need some help about a VRRP issue on two nexus 7000.
Vlan test:
Nexus 1:
interface Vlan242
no ip redirects
ip address 10.xx.xxx.xx/xx
no ipv6 redirects
no shutdown
vrrp 56
priority 110
address 10.xx.xxx.xx
no shutdown
Interface VR IpVersion Pri Time Pre State VR IP addr
---------------------------------------------------------------
Vlan242 56 IPV4 110 1 s Y Master 10.xx.xxx.xx
Nexus 2:
interface Vlan242
no shutdown
no ip redirects
ip address 10.xx.xxx.xx/xx
no ipv6 redirects
vrrp 56
priority 90
address 10.xx.xxx.xx
no shutdown
Interface VR IpVersion Pri Time Pre State VR IP addr
---------------------------------------------------------------
Vlan242 56 IPV4 90 1 s Y Backup 10.xx.xxx.xx
Test:
When I shut the interface vlan 242 on the Nexus 1(10.xx.xxx.xx), I can't ping the interface vlan on the Nexus 2 (10.xx.xxx.xx) and the VRRP (10.xx.xxx.xx) anymore.
On Nexus 1:
Interface VR IpVersion Pri Time Pre State VR IP addr
---------------------------------------------------------------
Vlan242 56 IPV4 110 1 s Y Init 10.xx.xxx.xx
Vlan242 - Group 56 (IPV4)
State is Init(Interface down)
Virtual IP address is 10.xx.xxx.xx
Priority 110, Configured 110
Forwarding threshold(for VPC), lower: 1 upper: 110
Advertisement interval 1
Preemption enabled
Virtual MAC address is 0000.xxxx.xxxx
Master router is Unknown
On Nexus 2:
Interface VR IpVersion Pri Time Pre State VR IP addr
---------------------------------------------------------------
Vlan242 56 IPV4 90 1 s Y Master 10.xx.xxx.xx
Vlan242 - Group 56 (IPV4)
State is Master
Virtual IP address is 10.xx.xxx.xx
Priority 90, Configured 90
Forwarding threshold(for VPC), lower: 1 upper: 90
Advertisement interval 1

Virtual MAC address is 0000.xxxx.xxxx

Logs:

Thanks for your help.

Is vlan 242 in the vPC peer link? if not the HSRP peers can't each other.

I have a similar problem, In your case, the vlan 242 is a vPC VLAN?

Yes, was a vPC VLAN and is on the peer-link. Now we separate the Routing and the DIstribution in diferents VDC and upgrade to vrrp v3 and is solved. But we dont have good experience with vPC+ VRRP.
