Hi all,

I have been tasked to poll our Nexus 7k's to gather packet's dropped based on rate limiting.

# show hardware rate-limiter layer-3 glean module 1

Units for Config: packets per second

Allowed, Dropped & Total: aggregated since last clear counters

Rate Limiter Class                       Parameters

------------------------------------------------------------

layer-3 glean                            Config    : 3000

                                         Allowed   : 545644766

                                         Dropped   : 13299797186     <----   trying to poll for this value

                                         Total     : 13845441952

I have been trying to find the object on the MIB but i cannot locate.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

Greetings Allen,

You can get this information from csrlGlobalRateLimiterDropped in CISCO-SWITCH-RATE-LIMITER-MIB, supported in 5.2 and later releases.

Kind Regards,

/Phil

Hi Phillip,

Thank you for the quick response.

I looked at the snmpwalk that i did on the nexus 7k. I will not see the csrlGlobalRateLimiterDropped value in there.

I also did a snmpget based on the oid found in the page 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.773.1.2.1.1.3 and get this:

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.773.1.3.1.1.3 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID

Is there a configuration that needs to be set in order for that OID to be active.

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Cisco NX-OS(tm) n7000, Software (n7000-s1-dk9), Version 6.0(4), RELEASE SOFTWARE Copyright (c) 2002-2011 by Cisco Systems, Inc. Compiled 6/6/2012 18:00:00

Hi Allen,

No additional configuration should be required, but these OIDs are only available in the admin/default VDC (VDC id 1).

csrlGlobalRateLimiterDropped is part of an indexed table and so a direct snmpget on 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.773.1.2.1.1.3 won't return any results, but a walk should.

Here I see that index 4 is used for the layer-3 glean rate-limiter by reading csrlRateLimiterClassDescr:

$ snmpwalk -v2c -c public nexus 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.773.1.1.1.1 | grep glean

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.773.1.1.1.1.2.4 = STRING: "                 layer-3 glean"

$ snmpget -v2c -c public nexus  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.773.1.2.1.1.3.4

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.773.1.2.1.1.3.4 = Counter64: 0

Cheers,

/Phil
