Hi Ju,

N5# reload ?

all          Reboot the entire box and Fex Modules >>>>>>>> Reloads the switch + FEX's

  fex          Reboot Fex

power-cycle  Power cycle ADM >>>>>>>>>> This has the same affected as powering Off the switch (turning off the power supplies) followed by On, i.e. toggling the power to the switch. Is required following upgrades where firmware for the power-sequencer is upgraded:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5000/sw/upgrade/503_N1_1/n5k_upgrade_downgrade_503.html#wp640973

The default reload option only reloads the switch, certainly if FEX's are single homed they too undergo reset, however incase of Dual homed FEX's they continue being attached to the peer switch in vPC.

HTH!

Regards,

Deepak

Cisco mentioned

"After a successful power sequence upgrade, you must switch off the power to the system and then, power it up."

What's the complication if we do not hard power-cycle the nexus after Bios/power-sequence is upgrade? There is lack of Cisco documentations.
