Nexus vPC : vpc orphan-port suspend

Hi, in vPC configuration in case of dual-active the secondary vPC-peer susends all it vPC-Ports.
In addition to that its possible to suspend the orphan-ports (which are not connected via vPC) as well by configuring under the interface

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/5_x/nx-os/interfaces/configuration/guide/if_vPC.html#wp1835751

vpc orphan-ports suspend

which is a very helpful command for example if you have connected one armed FWs to the Nexus.

Unfortunately there is no way to run this command on port-channel interfaces, just on physical one.
Its also not posisble to configure it on the physical interfaces which are member of a port-channel.

Is there a way to achive it on orphan port-channels as well ??

Thx in Advance

Hubert

No, we just tried to apply the command on physical interfaces and it behaved correctly.

Hi hubert,

i test putting vpc orphan-port suspend first then put the channel-group config.

it works as expected.

i am not sure if this is a bug or not supported config.

have you found a solution?

Hi Folks,

vpc orphan-ports suspend is only supported on physical interaces & not on port-channels.

To have this mentioned in the CCO doc, there is already a bug filed.

Bug id id CSCua54988.

HTH,

Rakesh

Confirming this behavour on 5548UP running NX-OS 5.2(1)N1(3)

1/30 is a normal access port, 1/13 is a member of a non-vpc port-channel.

5548UP(config)# int e 1/30
5548UP(config-if)# vpc ?
  orphan-port  Orphan-port (non-vpc port)

5548UP(config-if)# vpc orphan-port ?
suspend  Suspend - when vPC secondary peerlink goes down

5548UP(config)# int e1/13
5548UP(config-if)# vpc ?
