Nexus7K: Standby Supervisor Reboot Failed

Gents,

we were unable to save the running-configuration of our Nexus7000 due to the error:

"Configuration update aborted: another request for config change is already in progress"

I was assuming that we were hitting a known bug with the NXOS 5.1.1(a) (CSCtj44206) I tried to reload the standby supervisor (N7K-SUP1).

Unfortunately the standby doesn't come online again. I get stuck at INIT 3 and I now have a bash prompt and no idea how to get out of it.

Latest syslog message is:

2011 Mar 28 14:24:41 de5ifbsw004 %$ VDC-1 %$ %SYSLOG-2-SYSTEM_MSG: Did not receive supstate notification in 180 seconds. Still waiting

You need to reload the entire chassis to rectify this issue. I've just had the same issue myself.

Make sure you have an up to date copy of your running-config before you reload as you will lose any unsaved changes when you boot.

You are right. Rebooting the whole chassis is something i wanted to avoid. In addition this was a bug in the software revision i used. This shouldn't happen again, once you upgraded to > 8.1.3.
