Hello,
We have many switches configured to use the same NTP server.
There is one switch showing the right day and month but year is 2012. As far as I have seen, all switches have the same config.
I even disabled NTP client and broadcastClient then manually entered the date "monday 12/13/2010" but after hitting enter the device wrote a line "Friday 12/13/2012".
Have you guys seen and fixed this before?

This is what we use , we are even using the same catos version on our 4006's. Where are you picking the time from ? Is the time correct on the device that is feeding your ntp time?
ciscoswitch# set ntp client enable
ciscoswitch# set ntp server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Hello Glen,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I omitted the server IP address. Other swictches has the exact same config (including NTP server) so why would this guy be 2 years ahead?
Even if the time was wrong on the server, all the devices "attached" to it would have the same date.
Regards,
David M.

Not sure why its 2 years ahead .I would think it would have to be sent from the server like that. Just manually setting the time would only be right if for some reason ntp was not working at all or turned off . If the server is correct you may have to put a sniffer on it and see what is going on .

Are you using a Cisco appliance as an authoritative NTP server? I wouldn't configure Cisco appliance as an authoritative NTP server.

Otherwise, use a dedicated NTP server that synchronizes itself using GPS.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
We are using a server, which is configured on the other switches. If they all point to the same server, why this switch is time traveling ? : )

David,
Can you post your ntp configuration and output from show ntp association? My guess is you are pulling time from another device and its time is wrong.

Hi there...
This device is running CatOS, which does not give us many commands to troubleshoot NTP issues.
This is all I can get from the switch (which is the exact same config of its properly working neighbors):
WS-C4006 Software, Version NmpSW: 7.6(17)
System Bootstrap Version: 5.4(1)
Hardware Version: 3.0 Model: WS-C4006
switchName> (enable) sh ntp noa

Broadcast client mode: enabled

And what is the "NTPServerIPAddress"? Is this an authoritative SNTP/NTP server or is this another Cisco appliance configured as "ntp master"?
