Operating temperature IE-4000-4TC4G-E

I have a question about the operation of an IE4000 (IE-4000-4TC4G-E)

The devices become very warm, even hot. The socket assumes such a temperature that you can hardly touch it any longer and when reading it a value of over 60°C is displayed. Is there any experience with this device, is this temperature normal? So far the devices run practically in idle mode.

is there aircon in place in the area thats its racked ? is the room cool or just the unit is hot ?
60C would be very hot for running operations , whats the the show env all output providing

short description of test setup

Two IE4000 and two IE4010 as a small network, lying on a laboratory table. The room is at room temperature. The devices are connected via RJ45. Although networks are configured, no clients are connected yet. The devices are connected via the supplied power supply units (PWR-IE65W-PC-DC=). A direct connection to 48V DC was also tried out. There was no noticeable change

As a small note: Human skin will burn within seconds of making contact with a surface 60degC.

Consider PPE (Rubber or Leather gloves) when interacting with energized cabinets in these temperature ranges.

Hi Robert,

the final statement from a cisco se was:
... due to the passive cooling (cooling fins) the case can get very hot, hence the yellow sticker as "Caution, hot!" on the switch. So everything in green area, the material is designed for it. The most important thing to watch out for is the ambient temperature, especially in a closed case. According to the datasheet: Operating Temperature: -40C to +75C

max. temperature reached on surface 62°C.

The device was tested in the test laboratory. No transfer to live operation has taken place
