Out of order interfaces in "sh int status" CLI output

This may be nothing, but I've not seen it before. While investigating another problem I've noticed the CLI output for "sh int status" on one of our Catalyst 6509Es is returning interfaces out-of-order. Should I be concerned?

As shown on that logs there is no problem on the interface. Try to monitor the show log you Vlan verify what is happening on the switch

Thanks, but there's nothing untoward in the 6509's log buffer, and I can't see anyhting else unusual. as i said, it may be nothing, but I've never seen a "sh int status" with out-of-order interfaces before, especially with a Port-channel near the top of the list.

Grateful to know if anyone else has either seen this before or has any idea why it might be happening. FWIW the modules in the chassis are as follows:

I have seen this recently also. One instance was after adding a new card to a 6513 chassis into slot 8. The 6513 had a Sup-720-10G in slot 7 running SXI3. After the new card's interfaces were configured, the interfaces for card 8 were the first to be listed with a sho int status and also with a show run. This cleared up after we replaced the chassis with a 6513-E and upgrading the IOS at the same time to SXI9.

Another instance just showed up yesterday. My coworker had a hard time clearing a MAC from a port (port security) Fa2/45. I'm not sure what all he did as I was out sick, but now port Fa2/45 is the first listed port during a show run, sho int status, and also with show start.

There seems to be nothing wrong with the ports. The workstations connected to them work fine. It's like a section of the config was just cut and pasted.

  Looks like an IOS bug, it shouldn't do that .

I'll agree with Glen's post.  It's got to be an IOS bug.  I've never seen something like this on any IOS platform before.

What IOS are you running?

Was anything resolved with this issue?  I am having the same symptoms on my 6509 running s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXI3.bin.  Everytime I manipulate an interface, it is moved to the top of the running-config and show int status list.....

is there a way to fix this without rebooting?

I opened a TAC case and this behavior is related to following bug:

symptom:

The interface order in 'show' commands may be incorrect after making changes to the

configuration.

Conditions:

The known triggers for this behavior are 'no shutting' interfaces and assigning a vlan to

an interface.

Workaround:

Reloading the device will recover the normal operation.
