Packet Analysis on cisco Nexus3500 C3548P-10GX Chassis

Hi. Following are the details of the switch

cisco Nexus3500 C3548P-10GX Chassis
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3- CPU @ 2.50GHz with 16396528 kB of memory.
Processor Board ID FOC25244X6C

We were interested in doing the analysis of packets (particularly TCP/UDP) on the switch to diagnose the issue of packet drops. Capturing Packet and saving it doesn't seem a feasible option on this particular Hardware.

Was wondering if there exists a way to analyze TCP/UPD packets on the particular switch, with/without capturing packet.

Hello,

have you tried "ethanalyzer local"?

Detailed description is on link below:

One of the option - ethanalyzer, but it will be able to capture only control plane traffic (punted to CPU).

Other option - SPAN to one of the ports. Details can be found in configuration guide:

Thanks for the reply @Jan Rolny and @Pavel Tarakanov. The ethanalzyer couldn't capture TCP/UDP

Spoiler
  • The control plane uses protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and MPLS to exchange information between network devices.

  • The data plane, however, employs protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, and UDP to transmit data packets between network devices.

Is there any other alternative apart from using SPAN?
packet-tracer is also not working.
