Much apprecited if you can assist with the following
I can see drops on the 6509 Queue for interface gi1/6 , qos is disabled globaly with qos disabled all packets are in one Queue using best effort my question is if I can see drops using the sh queueing int Gi1/6 command why I am not seeing any drops when I run the Sh int (interface number ) command, pls help in confirming which one is right and which one is wrong (As always thanks in advance)
I have highlight the important bits in the show command below

Hi Zeeshan,
Can you please let me know what type of module is this? And can you check the drop on any other interface?
Eg: G1/5-8 and paste the outputs here.
Regards
Inayath

Hello Zeeshan,
The numbers you are looking are different one is the output the other is input queue.
You have highlighted it transmit queue in QoS output and input queue on interface.
So both seems right.
You may find more information about the queue in the following link:
The following document is about input and output queue on the interfaces:

Hi Alexander,
Many Thanks for the update
Pls find Below output from Queuing command
sh queuing interface Gi1/6 (pls find relevant info below from the command)
Packets dropped on Transmit:
queue dropped [cos-map]
---------------------------------------------
1 999434248 [0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ]
2 0 []
3 0 []
4 0 []
Below is output from sh int Gi1/6 (pls find relevant info below from command)
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)
Pls find my question below
When we see packet drop on queue 1 999434248 (packets droped on transmit) shouldnt we see the total output drops go up with the sh int command. (both input drops and output drops are zero with the Sh interface command)
We are looking forward for an network upgrade and I am trying to do an audit and am bit confused here (trying to identify bottle necks so we can purchase the right cards etc) accroding to the sh int command there is no congestion / drops according to the Queuing command they are drops. (WE have QOS disabled so all traffc is in queue 1)
Kind Regards,
Zee

Hello Zee,
Maybe the easiest approach will be opening a case with TAC because configuration should be checked, the version of the software also, some capture or debugs maybe needed.
Just to ask you one more thing are these counters increasing?
Best regards,
Alex

HI Zeeshan,
Is this input drops getting increase very min or during any specific point of time? Is there any way to configure the SPAN on this port to see what burst of traffic is hitting this interface? You can once clear the counters on this interface and monitor the situation and see what specific time the drops gets increased?
Regards
