We are trying to use SPAN session in Catalyst 3750G-24T switch.
When we turn on SPAN monitoring, we see that not all packets are getting copied to the destination port. Specifically, we are seeing RTP packets sequence losing a few packets here and there over a UDP session. The original traffic to the destination reaches without loss, but the monitor port which is getting the mirrored traffic always loses a few packets.
We also noticed that when we try a low bandwidth RTP sequence (such as 300 kbps, 50 packets per second), there are no packet losses, whereas a high bandwidth RTP sequence (such as 2 Mbps, 250 to 300 packets per second) is losing packets consistently. The "show proc cpu" does not show abnormal values (it is always around 4 to 5%).
Can anyone share your experience / advice on SPAN without packet loss on Catalyst 3750G switch?
