Panic CPU causes reboot on Unix box connected to 3750

I have a Unix based computer that when I connect it to my Cisco 3750 switch (12.2.37 SE) does not take long to reboot as a result of a "Panic CPU" error. When I connect this Unix box to an HP 2524M switch, which in turn is connected to the same 3750 port, it does not reboot. Any ideas? (PoE turned of on port).

Thanks!

Hello,

have you tried to disable CDP on cisco switch port?

Does the HP switch sends STP BPDUs and in what format?

I would try use a sniffer to compare what is received on cisco switch port and HP switch port.

However, CDP messages are multicast and should be propagated by HP switch.

the POE should be able to detect a device that doesn't need in line power or the NIC of the server could be electricallydamaged.

Also verify if port is stable on cisco switch checking logs with

sh log

Hope to help

Giuseppe
