Hi,
Quick question regarding the password recovery procedure outlined on this page:
Have tired this several times without success. I get to the portion where I need to enter terminal configuration mode and every time I get "authentication failed" Seems like I'm stuck because I need this password to be reset to bring the switch back to factory defaults.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't know where you've gone wrong but I've done password recovery on these 2940 and I've never seen this fail.
Exactly, WHAT have you done?

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I'm just now getting into cisco switches, so I'm sure it was a noob mistake. In the password recovery procedure they have you rename the config file, then rename it back. Well, for some reason if I tried entering conf t mode after renaming the config file back, I got "auth failed."
So I learned that if you just rename the config file, then wr mem, it works fine.
Thanks anyway!
