password recovery on 4507 sup V

I am trying to do a PW recovery. Every time I type confreg 0x2142 @ rommon 1 the system keep on coming back with it's orignal config-register = 0x2101.

Reboot the system, but keeps coming back with same. Can't make it to take 0x2142

Pls. help
