I need some instructions to do a password recovery on a Catalyst 4912G series switch. The instructions that I found on the cisco.com site for the 4000 and 4500 series switches do not work.

Hi,
Why don't you try this:

Hi,
It sounds like you can use the reset button on the front of the switch to get into ROMMON with a console cable, from the discussion on this post (http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/r18713383-HELP-Catalyst-4912G-help-with-password-config-reset). From there, you should be able to get to the existing config and save a copy on your computer. Even if you can't get the password decoded, you'll have a copy of the config and then be able to put it back into production (with a known password) after wiping the box clean.
If the above didn't work, Please try the below link.

Please click on the correct answer on all posts if they answered your question.
