Hi all,
Just wanting to get some advice as to the best practice or preferred method for DHCP Pool Scope configuration for IP address leasing.
Should I have an AD (Active Directory) integrated DHCP Scope or configure my Cisco router to allocate IP addresses to connected clients?
If I were to use the router option, how would I go about forwarding the address details onto my AD DHCP Scope and register the client details in DNS for name resolution?
Thanks and regards,
Darren

Hello Darren,
if you have these needs you need to use a centralized DHCP server that communicates with AD to achieve dynamic DNS registration.
on routers you need to use the ip helper address dhcp-server-ipaddress on each client vlan in order to have them act as DHCP relay agents.
Hope to help
Giuseppe
