Hi.

This is my problem, I have one cisco 3750x with 24 ports and one C3KX-NM-1G module.

when I connect one gbic sfp-lx in the gi 1/1/1 the port doesnt up.

But when I connect the fiber to another switch the link works.

There are problems with this kind of modules?

regards.

Hi

What do mean by "when I connect one gbic sfp-lx in the gi 1/1/1 the port doesnt up"?

The module is all 1Gig SFP.

Can you clarify?

Maybe the port is in "shutdown" or "err-disable"?

When I connect the fiber to the port module (C3KX-NM-1G) gi 1/1/1 the port doesnt work, and the led are off.

this is the sho interface gi 1/1/1

GigabitEthernet1/1/1 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)

Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is 4055.39a8.eb9b (bia 4055.39a8.eb9b)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

     reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

  Keepalive not set

Auto-duplex, Auto-speed, link type is auto, media type is 1000BaseLX SFP

input flow-control is off, output flow-control is unsupported

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input never, output never, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0

  Queueing strategy: fifo

  Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)

  5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

  5 minute output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

0 packets input, 0 bytes, 0 no buffer

     Received 0 broadcasts (0 multicasts)

     0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

     0 watchdog, 0 multicast, 0 pause input

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

     0 packets output, 0 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets

     0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

And the gebic (glc-lh-sm) is connected and works with other switch.

Have you tried any other GBICs in that slot to see if other known working ones work?   I think you can also run sh int trans det to give you more info if its even being recognized. Do you use the same GBIC and known working cable at the same time?

Are you using the correct fiber type  (SM or MM) with the right optics?

Hi Jorge,

Have you tried to swap TX and RX?

Hi, we have about the same problem with a C3560-X and we're tried different SFP's and "fiber-patch-cables", still the module is clean and "dead". We have bought two of this boxes for test and both hace the same problem. It's a "old" module and it can't be the IOS. We're running 150-1.SE2 Universal image.

Hello,

I've had similar problem with WS-C3560X-24T-S and C3KX-NM-1G with original transceiver SFP-GE-L and with replacement transceiver not worked with ASR connected to the other side. Funny is that other side had link up but not my.

Any other vendor devices on the same fiber optics cables with the same SFP transceivers works perfect but not my switch and my module.

The solution was set "speed nonegotiate" on SFP interfaces.

My Catalyst IOS was original 12.2(55)SE8.

Best Regards.
