Problem with protocol donw On witch 2960G

Dear All Expert,

Could you let me know command as below that have issue ...this cisco switch 2960G(8ports)

FastEthernet0/7 unassigned YES unset up down

-The status is up but Protocol is down ,

i tried to no shut interface and tried to change cable but it still down ,

Could you let me know, why it happen ?

Post a "show interface status . What is hooked to port 7 ?

FastEthernet0/2 unassigned YES unset up up

FastEthernet0/3 unassigned YES unset up up

FastEthernet0/4 unassigned YES unset up up

FastEthernet0/5 unassigned YES unset up up

FastEthernet0/6 unassigned YES unset down down

FastEthernet0/7 unassigned YES unset up down

FastEthernet0/8 unassigned YES unset up up

GigabitEthernet0/1 unassigned YES unset up up

I did not show int status...
