config t

!

service unsupported-transceiver

no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid

!

let us know the outcome.

We tried to put the commands above, but it didn't work.

Hello @Alexandre11 ,

you are trying to inser a 10GE SFP+ in  a ge port gi1/3 or gi1/4 I am afraid it is not supported.

Unless there is a way to tell to the switch to use tengiga1/3 and tengiga1/4 if the ports are "dual mode" I don't think this switch model supports this automatically.

You have two tengiga ports have you tried to put the 10GE SFP+ in one of them ?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

I have 4 SFP ports where of those 4, two I can use TenGiga, but it doesn't go up and says the message bellow:

000030: Jun 23 2020 14: 12: 41.565 BR:% GBIC_SECURITY-4-UNSUPPORTED_GBIC_INSERTED: Unsupported transceiver inserted in port Gi1 / 3

have you set up the speed for 10GB ?

@Giuseppe Larosa i may be over looked, these ports are dual personality right, 1G/10G.

Hello @balaji.bandi ,

thanks for your feedback.

However, from the matrix you have posted it looks like that if the first two ports are used with SFP+ at 10 Gbps the last two  ports cannot be used.

And this is what the original poster OP is trying to do in my understanding.

Edit:

yes from the sup overview

"The Supervisor Engine 7L-E has four uplink ports. Ports 1 and 2 support either 10GBASE SFP+ transceivers or 1000BASE SFP transceivers. Ports 3 and 4 support only 1000BASE SFP transceivers. There are restrictions on the use of the uplink ports in both single supervisor engine and redundant supervisor engine configurations and both 10-G and 1-G operation. Refer to Table 3 for a matrix of uplink port permissible transceiver configurations and transceiver restrictions.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

@Giuseppe Larosa  yes agreed and make sense.

That is the reason, i have posted the matrix so user aware max he can use 20GB on sup. with limited ports.

When I connect on fisrt interface show me the message:

I am connecting only in this interface, the other interfaces do not.

My supervisora is WS-X45-SUP7L-E

Yes.

I'm trying to use the first and second ports of the supervisor module, but none work,

You may have a bad SFP as not all SFPs work with Cisco switches. What is the part number and where did you purchase it?

HTH

Ok lets re-cap the question, you looking to use 2 ports at a time is this correct, why it confuses here is since you connecting G1/3 we are impression G1/1, G1/2 already used. In this case as per your explanation is it not.

So we need to know what is the SFP mode and Brand, is this cisco?

If this is 3rd party SFP - Not sure its been Long have worked on 4500.

check below commands works :

(config)# no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
(config)# service unsupported-transceiver

the Switch 4503 has 4 physical ports
in configurations with sh interfaces it shows the following:

Port     Name  Status      Vlan Duplex    Speed    Type
Te1/1              inactive     1      full        auto      No XCVR
Te1/2              inactive     1      full        auto      No XCVR
Gi1/3              notconnect 1     full       1000     Unknown GBIC-*
Gi1/4              notconnect 16   full       1000     No Gbic
Gi1/5              notconnect 300 full       1000     No Gbic
Gi1/6              notconnect 16   full       1000     No Gbic

for what it says in the documentation or you use two ports at 10 gbps or the fourth at 1 gbps, what to understand that it is hybrid, the t1 / 1 port is the same as the g1 / 3 physically, the 10 gbps gbic should be recognized on the t1 / 1 interface, but is recognizing with g1 / 3.

the command "hw-module uplink select tengigabitethernet" was executed and the switch was restarted, but even so it recognizes as g1 / 3

GBIC DELL SFP-10GB-10LR

I saw that there is a conf in the running config that sets the following:
"hw-module uplink select gigabitethernet"
I think that's the problem, but I can't move to
"hw-module uplink select tengigabitethernet"
because module 2 is a WS-X4648-RJ45V + E
how can I execute the command hw-module uplink select tengigabitethernet only on module 1 which is WS-X45-SUP7L-E?

Ok thanks for the information

can you post below output :

show modules

show run | incl uplink
