qos statistics on 2960 with cisco phone

Hi all!

please help me in understanding of "mls qos interface stat"

I took a switch and connected it to my LAN

switch is 2960 with LanBase image and PoE

on it I have 3 interfaces in up state - 2 interfaces with cisco phones (6921 and 9951) nad 1 interface as uplink

here is its configuration

interface FastEthernet0/1

switchport mode access

switchport voice vlan 555

mls qos trust device cisco-phone

spanning-tree portfast

I made just a call from one 9951 towards

I have no other devices on switch. so I have only voip traffic.

but why do I see the next stat screen?

All incoming traffic is as I expect - DSCP 48, CoS 5

but all outgoing traffic???

Should notice I have next statements in config too:

mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 32 46 48 56

mls qos

And I use CUCM 7.1 (if it is important)

Please help me to understand!!!

DSCP 46 suppose to map to COS 5, which is recommended.

Try this on ur uplink

mls qos trust coz

Because this is a layer, 2 interface.

You can use see blow its showing both cos to dscp and dscp to cos

   Cos-dscp map:

       cos:   0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

     --------------------------------

       dscp:   0 8 16 24 32 46 48 56

Network-Test#sh mls qos maps dscp-cos

   Dscp-cos map:

     d1 : d2 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

     ---------------------------------------

     0 :   00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01

     1 :   01 01 01 01 01 01 02 02 02 02

     2 :   02 02 02 02 03 03 03 03 03 03

as you can see cos 5 mapped to DSCP 46

Cos is layer 2 marking and DSCP is layer 3. if you enable Auto Qos on switch it will automatically create these table and handle the traffic.

please correct me if I'm wrong.

internal DSCP = ingress DSCP if I have "mls qos trust dscp"

internal DSCP is taken from cos-to-dscp map if I have "mls qos trust cos"

egress cos is taken from dscp-to-cos table, where dscp=internal dscp
