QUick suggestion on OPtic fibre connectivity

Hi

we are using GLC-SX-MM module to, Multimode fiber 50u OM3 to connect branch office to Head office (disatance apart 200mts). The fiber has LC type connectors on both side, and we are connecting to the Cat3750(L3) switch to CAT 2960(L2 + 2 sfp combo slots).

switch(3750)>LC--------Fiber-------LC<switch(2960).

laying out the cable patches everything is done.

now i have to do the testing and connectivity part. how should be done.

1. cat 3750 is a dhcp server to branch office(we are giving mac based binding for branch office).

test ?

1. should the ports connected(2960 to 3750) has to be made trunking to carry vlans or does it do automatically(as by default the ports are trunk)

2. how to verify the ports are connected correctly (1. way is to see the led lights on both ends) and how can i check through commands

3.what all the different commandds i can run on these ports.

quick suggestion please as i have very less time to get it done practically.

Hi,

if the link carries multiple vlans traffic then the port should be configured as trunk on both sides.

conf ter

inter <>

sw tr encap dot1q

sw mo tr

exit

To check the links are working fine or not, use the below commands

sh int status

sh int trunk

sh interfaces | i line|rate|up

then what about the speed .. should i have to manually configure anything to speed

like auto negotiation.

Hi,

pls configure speed auto, duplex full.

When you issue the command show interface <> capabilities you can see the port speed & duplex capabilities.

sample output:
