Hi,

To test supervisor redundancy on a switch running dual sup 720s, you can try the command 'redundancy force-switchover'. This will force the standby sup to become active and vice versa.

Alternatively you can pull out the active supervisor which will make the standby supervisor to become active.

To test redundant power supplies, I would suggest to capture show power output, turn off one of the power supplies and check the output of 'show power' again. Make sure that the active power supply is capable of taking the complete load of the chassis.

Hope this helps,

Shashank

since you have dual sups, you can configure them in a redundant mode and run SSO

thanks. will the option of pulling out the other sup directly cause any device level problems as active sup will be pulled out during operation & by command mode will same "redundancy force- switchover" command make the once active sup back to active form again?

each supply is somewhere near 2500w, how to determine if this is sufficient for the whole unit load. Is SSO the default mode or has to be manual.
