Regarding switch hangs

Dear team,

We are having Cisco router 1002 ASR and 2841 switch. Some times perticular VLAN user will not be able to access the network but from the same switch others VLAN users can able

to access. We were getting ARP entries in router but we cannot ping the IP's. Even we clear the ARP entries. Once we restart the switch users can access the network. We have

changed vlan ports, uplink too. but problem not solved. and we observed CPU utilization will be going 70-80% some times and at same time switch hangs. Please guide.

Naveen,

instead of reload, try consoling/telnet into the switch and issue the following commands to check if that alleviates the issue or not:

- Clear mac address dynamic

- "shut/no shut" of the Interface where affected user is connected

- take the output of "sh proc cpu sorted" when you see high cpu utilization as that would be needed for better understanding

Hello

Noticed the switch is in a stack, how may switches are active?
Can you post a run config of the switch stack?

Hi Pdriver,

Thanks for the reply. We are not using any other switches to stack. It's a core switch in the location and it's stand alone.

Few unmanageble switches are connected to this core switch. So how can we get the logs about stacking.
