Hi All,

I am looking for some guidance on how I can configure my cisco 2611 router with my fios connection and set up a remote VPN?  I want to use it this way so its always on and I can use it to study for my CCNA.  Do I have to bypass my fios router and put it into bridge mode?

Thanks

Hi,

To use the router as VPN server, you would need an IOS with security package installed.

What is the output of "sh ver"

Also, remember that the 2600 series routers are very old, slow and very limited IOS image availability.

Thanks, I will get the output

The output of the sh ver is

Router1>sh version

This image does not support VPN. You need an image with k9(crypto).

Thanks, I can get the image but how can I configure the router with my fios connection in order to establish the VPN?

Here is sample configuration.

I think, the first thing you need to figure out is, can the FIOS modem physically work with the 2600? if yes what is the speed?  And the second thing, can you configure the interface that connect to the modem to get a public IP from the provider's DHCP server? Or do you have extra pubic IP you can use?
