If you want to have console access you need the DB9 to RJ45 - I have not seen the rollover cable with RJ45 at both ends used for console access before.

If you do not have the com port (DB9) side on your laptop/PC you will need a serial to usb converter.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Here is the cable you need.

If you have a DB9 port on your PC/laptop then you are good to go,

If you don't have a DB9 port and have only USB ports then you also need this:

If you are purchasing a new Cisco Switch console cable already comes with it, you should not have to purchase it separately.
