Router or Layer 3 Switch for ISP Gateway?

I've recvently purchased a SG300 series Layer3 Switch and love it.   Its routing traffic between internal Subnets just fine.

We are looking at upgrading our Internet Connection to a 50Meg Ethernet Handoff. So I need a Dual Port Ethernet router to handle the /30 WAN Link subnet  to our Public IP address Space.   I was thinking a 1900 series, though with the Luck I had with the SG300 and routing I thouhgt that might be another option?

I dont need anything fancy, I have an ASA that is connected to to the Internal network.

Is it bad form to use a Layer 3 Switch in this Application?

Thanks,

  Scott<-

Hi,

If the WAN  link is ethernet handoff and then you can use your L3 switch to connect.

But still i would preffer a 2951 router as you are going to upgrade the link to 50 MB and morever it is internet link.

Regards,

Naidu.
