Hard-coding the speed/duplex turns off MDI/MDI-X.  This means that the cable used is incorrect.

I cant change the cables due to its on a school software, what would u recommend doing, leaving it set as auto?

It is recommended to leave speed and duplex to auto negotiate.

There are some extreme cases where speed &/or duplex settings have to be hard coded.

There are, however, some network administrators out there who still insist on configuring the speed &/or duplex settings.
