SFP 100FX for GE and 100Mbps ports.

Hi,

I'm going to update 80% of LAN equipment.

The core switch will use this fiber card: WS-X6724-SFP - Catalyst 6500 24-port GigE Mod: fabric-enabled.

Some switches will continue using same speed, they have fiber with 100BaseFX.

I got two type of SFP, GLC-GE-100FX= and GLC-FE-100FX=.

Theses two of SFP can work with this fiber card ?.

I don't know how accurate the Cisco documentation is, but the WS-X6724-SFP will not support GLC-GE-100FX and GLC-FE-100FX. You'll need the WS-X6148-FE-SFP.

You'll have to be careful!

GLC-FE-100FX= is the one you will need for Cat6500.

GLC-GE-100FX= is for Cat3xxx series of switches.

See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps5455/prod_module_series_home.html, even though it is not the best page, but the compatibility matrix for transceivers that Cisco used to have has apparently been deleted - at least my link to it is broken.

Right! My mistake; I did not pay attention to the fact that actually FastEthernet fiber SFP is NOT supported on the 6724 module - it's only gigabit.

Sorry about the wrong info.

No problem, thank you a lot by your help.

It's ready.

No need to apologize. Like I said, you could be right and I could be wrong. It all depends on how often the documentations are updated.

Peace bro ... :)
