SFP Modules: Rx power low warning

Hello,

I am getting these warnings on Cisco 2960 switches that connect up together using multi mode fibre. The cables are no longer than 150m between the switches. The switches are using GLC-SX-MMD SFPs.

The warnings:

%SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Gi0/2: Rx power low warning; Operating value: -18.1 dBm, Threshold value: -18.0 dBm.

%SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Gi0/1: Rx power low warning; Operating value: -18.7 dBm, Threshold value: -18.0 dBm.

%SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Gi0/1: Rx power low warning; Operating value: -18.7 dBm, Threshold value: -18.0 dBm.

Is it because my cables are too long for these particular modules or is it down to something like software version? I have two switches that are running on 15.0 and the other 4 are on 12.4.

Any ideas?

Hi,

This is mostly a cosmetic error and does not cause any harm.
