SFP not supported in 3850 switch

I just bought a bunch of 3850 switches but am having a problem getting them to recognize the SFP module. When I insert the module I get the following error:

*Jun 10 05:39:29.019 EDT: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/1 is not supported

*Jun 10 05:39:29.019 EDT: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi1/1/1, putting Gi1/1/1 in err-disable state

*Jun 10 05:52:20.050 EDT: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/2 is not supported

*Jun 10 05:52:20.050 EDT: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi1/1/2, putting Gi1/1/2 in err-disable state

*Jun 10 05:52:26.819 EDT: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/3 is not supported

*Jun 10 05:52:26.819 EDT: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi1/1/3, putting Gi1/1/3 in err-disable state

*Jun 10 05:52:29.923 EDT: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/4 is not supported

*Jun 10 05:52:29.923 EDT: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi1/1/4, putting Gi1/1/4 in err-disable state

Which doesn't make sense because it should be supported from what I can tell.

Switch model: WS-C3850-48P

IOS-XE version: 03.02.03.SE

SFP: GLC-SX-MMD

NM: C3850-NM-4-1G

This SFP is listed in their compatibility matrix:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6981.html#69891

I would recommend upgrading to IOS-XE version: 3.3.3SE and installing the module prior to boot?

Although they are hot swap able I have seen issues with changing the modules on code prior to 3.3.0

Do you have any SFP's inserted into the module when you add it?

so after about 1 1/2 weeks of problemless operation. Today a new 3850 crapped out on us.

IOS version is 03.03.04SE

and the messages the switch is logging is:

*Nov 19 17:08:08.729 CET: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/1 is not supported
*Nov 19 17:08:19.272 CET: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi1/1/2 is not supported
*Nov 19 17:08:21.296 CET: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Te1/1/3 is not supported
*Nov 19 17:08:23.320 CET: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Te1/1/4 is not supported

even though the sfps are cisco 1000 SX-mm modules, I activated the

service unsupported-transceiver

and

no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid

but now the sfp´s just don´t show up any more!!! What the hell? It was working without much problems. (the 4 sfp´s did at sometime give up at the same time, but reboot the switch and it worked again for about 1 week until today!)

What can I do to get the SFP´s back up again?
