Hi Ibrahim,

This means that only one stack cable is connected between these two switches. This cable is connected on stack port 1 on switch 1 and stack port 2 on switch 2. Ports showing down have no stack cable connected on them.

The stack will remain up even with one cable connected, but the backplane speed will be half the maximum value.

Cheers,

Shashank

Hi Ibrahim,

That means one of the stack cable is connected correctly and the second one is not.  Reconnect the second stack cable and make sure they are nice and secure.  Once that is done, issue the same command you should see ok on both

Hi Mates

so what i have understood that must be two connected stack cable from each switch?is that tue?also i m runing half thoughput, what is the half thoughput and hight throughput for these 2 switches ?

thank y

Ibrahin,

That is correct. You should have 2 stack cables from each switch connected in a ring topology to get the full backplane capabilities.

when only one cable connected try this command:

C3750-E#sh switch stack-ring sp
C3750-E#sh switch stack-ring speed

Stack Ring Speed        : 16G
Stack Ring Configuration: Half
Stack Ring Protocol     : StackWisePlus
C3750-E#

and then try with 2 cables and you will see

C3750-E#sh switch stack-ring sp
C3750-E#sh switch stack-ring speed

Stack Ring Speed        : 32G
Stack Ring Configuration: Full
Stack Ring Protocol     : StackWisePlus
C3750-E#

BTW, this above command is from E series switch.

Hi Ibrahim,

With one stack cable connected as of now, the backplane speed (between the switches) is 16gbps. If you connect one more cable the backplane throughput will double (32 gbps).

Apart from more bandwidth, having both the cables connected is recommended as it provides redundancy and keeps the stack up and operational in case one link fails (stack can remain up and operational even on one stack cable as you have now).

Cheers,
Shashank
