If you want the router to receive the RA from an upstream router and to autoconfigure itself using that RA then you are correct.

Hi,

SLAAC stands for Stateless Address Autoconfiguration and is defined by RFC4862.

what parameters are assigned by SLAAC ? Prefix id , Interface id , DNS, default gateway ?

Hi,

SLAAC through the router advertisement (RA) could provide:

Prefix information, MTU, domain name information, DNS server address.

Default gateway will be derived from the link local address of the device(s) sending the router advertisement.

in SLAAC the prefix-id will be sent over link and the host portion will be configured by EUI-64. is it correct ? and what is the command to assign ip in SLAAC ?

The router send the prefix information in the RA and the host uses it to select its ipv6 address. The host id could be derived through eui-64 on some platforms or privacy address (rfc4941) on others. Routers will do SLAAC by default and do not need any specific command. There are some commands to tweek it and change some values though.

if my router needs to assign ip from SLAAC then i have put below command

  # ipv6 address autoconfig

is that correct ?
