SPAN on 3750TS Gigabit port

I am trying to set up a new voice recording system.  We currenlty use the 3750 24 port TS with PoE which has 24 ports of 100Mbps and 2 Gig ports.

My current config for voice recording uses port Fa1/0/24 as the destination for the SPAN session.

monitor session 1 source vlan 234

monitor session 1 destination interface fa1/0/24

This has worked very well.

With the new system we want to use a gigabit port for the destination.

If have set up

monitor session 2 source vlan 234

monitor session 2 destination interface gi1/0/2

In theory I should see exactly the same traffic on these two SPAN sessions if I understand the docs correctly.

However, I don't.  I am not seeing any of the vlan 234 traffic on the gigiabit port, only EIGRP, and other sundry connection related traffic.

No data traffic at all however.

What am I missing?  Can the gig ports be used as span destinations?

Thanks

is gi1/0/2 configuration = fa1/0/24 configuration (same vlan, same mode (access),...)

I have tried it with both. I first set it up so that the config was exactly the same, then I started stripping the config on gi1/0/2 down to the minimums to see if it made a difference. It didn't.
