I usually do this with the Cisco network Assistant as I would always rather use a gui but I can do command line. It looks like when I open up CNA that I on the 4506 I cannot see the spanning config feature that I normally see on a 3650 etc. I have the guide http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/25ewa/configuration/guide/span.html#wp1043935 but needed to know any caveats before I muck with the ports. I am using a Network Observer to monitor the traffic.

Hi Gary,
In the 4500 the span command it's monitor session. If you need to copy all traffic from interface/trunk/vlan, etc... You need to make a manitor session.
monitor session source "interface or so on" = Source of the traffic
monitor session destination interface = Destination of the copy traffic
Hope this help.

Mauricio
