Stacking Issue with WS-C3750X-48T-S and WS-C3750E-24PD

I am having an issue stacking an existing 3750e POE switch with a 3750x stack, the POE switch keeps coming up with version mismatch.

From show license for the POE switches, it appears you have IP Base license and not IP Services. Upgrade the POE switch to IP services and test again.

HTH

I have run the same setup in lab with similar equipment and it stacks fine even with a base license and an ip services license so I dont think this is a license issue.

It is booting the same image as the 3750X.

I agree with Reza.

GFM-STACK has IP Services enabled while WP-GFM-PSW1 has IP Base enabled.

Another thing ... Why does "WP-GFM-PSW1" have a host name????  If you want "WP-GFM-PSW1" to join the stack then this switch should NOT HAVE any config.

I recreated the setup in the lab and it worked I had configs on both devices and the same licenses and it stacked without issue. Here are the results:

the same licenses and it stacked without issue.

No it's not.  The stack master has IP Services and the slave has IP Base.

Ok, now you've got stacking with two different Feature Sets working.  Fine.  Now do configure Layer 3 stuff on the stack master.  Once you've done, kill the power to the stack master.  See what happens to your slave running IP Base Feature Set license.  Pay close attention to your configuration.

Same licenses meant running same licenses in lab as the switches I am trying to stack in production.

As Leo said, even though it can work fine, but it is not a good idea to have different types of licenses in a stack.  If for example, the master switch is the one with IP Services license and you are using PBR (which is only supported in IP Services) fails, you will lose you PBR config since the second switch with IP base license does not support PBR. Now, if the business does not want to pay the extra cost for the license, all you have to do is to make them aware of what can happen and document it, so they don't call you at midnight when the master switch goes down.

Thanks for the info but that's not anything I am worrying about there are 4 other switches in the stack running ip services also we were actually given something we dont need as we dont use any of the feature sets in ip services its strictly a layer 2 switch. My question is should this stack correctly?

Hi

I believe  we verified  the show version and confirmed  the boot statement in the POE switch.
