Does it stay down or comes back ?
Because as soon as you plug the stack cable, stack merge occurs

It stays down and all the port lights and the system light on unit 2 starts lighting up constant.

May be another good document to cross check again the configuration and physical connectivity.

I also get this error on the other switch(the one that does not go down)
Stack-E-STCK-SHTDWN-SACK-MODE: Unit was shutdown due to stack mode incompatibility

One switch is a SG550X-48P and the other is a SG550XG-24T. They should be able to stack together right?

Hi

After af firmware upgrade I got this error:
%Stack-E-STCK-SHTDWN-SACK-MODE: Unit was shutdown due to stack mode incompatibility master mode is Native SG550XG / SX550XG slave mode is Native Sx550X

And when I change the stack mode to hybrid everything started working as expected.

That was good news, and good to know it worked.

Point noted, even though i do not hands on it.
