Standby - HSRP

Hi All

We have 2 WAN links connected to 2 routers in HSRP. I have access only to one of these routers.

How can I find out details of the other link? In addition, how can I find out if the 2nd link on the 2nd router is still in use? I have a feeling it has been dismissed but I need to know for sure.

Is there a way I can find this out from the router I have access to via the configs?

Hi Lond,

what i would suggest is, jus issue a command "show standby" for the router you hav got access. with that you can come to which router is Active & which is Standy. it should be mentioned something like this....

Vlan5 - Group 5

Local state is Standby, priority 110, may preempt

Hellotime 5 sec, holdtime 15 sec

Next hello sent in 0.008

Virtual IP address is 10.2.9.252 configured

Active router is 10.2.9.251, priority 111 expires in 11.176

Standby router is local

34 state changes, last state change 1w3d

IP redundancy name is "hsrp-Vl5-5" (default)

this configuration which i have mentioned is for the switch, similar kind of thing will be for router also.
