Hi

I read that if portfast port receives a BPDU port will lose its portfast feature.

But in my below test port  keeps  porfast even if it receives a BPDU,

can anyone help me to clarify this?stp portfast.PNG

Thanks

Siva

Hello Siva,

you have STP portfast enabled on the root port connecting to another switch.

The exact behaviour depends on how you have configured spanning-tree portfast

global mode

spanning-tree portfast default

vs. interface mode

int  gi0/1

spanning-tree portfast enable

One of the two configurations (the first one I suppose) should react changing the port to standard the second one should keep the port in STP portfast mode.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
